Wu Yi Tea Article
What is Wu-Yi Tea?
Simpy put Wu-yi tea is Oolong Tea. Wu-Yi tea is Oolong tea leaves that have been fermented, and it apparently comes from a specific region in China, from where it gets its name. However, the difference between Wu-yi tea and basic Oolong is that the makers of Wu-yi tea enhance the tea to be more potent than in its natural form. According to Evitalife, makers of Original Wu-Yi tea, they take the tea leaves from the Wu-Yi mountains in the Fujian Province of China, and meticulously enhance the tea with all natural tea and fruit extracts high in polyphenols and antioxidants, making it what some are calling "better than green tea for health and weight loss." They further claim that by enhancing the tea with these "powerful polyphenols" that they cause the tea to "melt body fat and promote weight loss."
Wu-Yi tea leaves that come from the Wu-Yi mountains, contain some of the highest levels of polyphenols and antioxidants, which has been used since ancient times to fight obesity in the Far East, and bring health benefits to the tea drinker. Now because of the popularity of diet enhancing supplements and diet enhancing foods, the tea has made its way to the rest of the world. Also notables such as Oprah Winfrey and Rachel Ray have recently stepped forward touting the benefits of the tea in their lives.
There is little disagreement as to the general health benefits of drinking certain teas especially Green Tea. However, scientists will state that more study is needed to fully understand the true benefits to your health especially as they apply to Weight Loss. On the other hand, it is almost daily that a new scientific study is released that further confirms these health benefits. I have yet to see one that discredits any of the benefits. In the case of Wu-Yi tea though, we have not seen the scientific studies to back up the claims that the makers are putting forth. So decide for yourself if this is how you want to invest your tea dollars. I know it certainly can’t hurt.
